Legacy workers and swing UI

Deephaven's engine was built as closed Java software that makes heavy use of Java-level serialization for communication together with a client-side Java Swing UI that requires desktop installation and updates for each Deephaven version. The Core+ worker includes the source-available Deephaven Core engine, uses open protocols based on gRPC for inter-worker communication, and supports a rich Web UI experience that makes desktop deployment simple.

All new Deephaven Enterprise features are being developed in the context of Core+ workers and the Web UI. The following documentation on Legacy workers is available for customers that must support existing use cases.
